Not that it’s true but most people associate being overweight with being lazy so this can have an effect on job placement or raises in pay.

Losing belly fat and love handles can also boost your confidence and make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Again I don’t make the rules of the game but I do know how to play them. If you are carrying around access abdominal fat and love handles you are less likely to attract the person that you want into your life. I would have to think that when someone has a preference of a particular body type that they would want their ideal mate to be someone who is fit and has a nice tight midsection minus the love handles. How many times have you seen both male and females hoot, holler and stare at someone who has an attractive body. We are naturally drawn and attracted to these people. So why can’t you be one of these people if you desire to be.

Do you want to be able to shop for cloths anywhere and be able to look good in anything you try on. Do you finally want to be able to fit in to that bikini and show off your new body at the beach. Well if you are not carrying around excess abdominal fat you can. Nothing feels better than being able to fit into a pair of old jeans that you use to wear in your youth or a time when you were allot thinner in the waistline. You can do this if you are willing to take a bit of advice from someone who has already been through it.

Don’t buy into the MYTH that you are getting older so you are expected to put on excess body weight or that your metabolism is slowing down so it’s OK to put on belly fat. If you want success in losing excess belly fat you have to be willing to put in a bit of work and learn these Two Keys that will help you get rid of belly fat and fat off your love handles.

Best Love Handle Workouts

  • Cross-Body Mountain Climber
  • Side Plank
  • Spiderman Push Up

Cross Body Mountain Climber

  • Start in a push up position
  • Bring your right knee towards your left elbow then return to the start position
  • Be sure to keep abs tight while performing exercise
  • Then bring your left knee towards your right elbow then return to start position
  • Do 10 reps each side so 20 in one set

Side Plank

  • Lying on your side raise your body with your elbow and feet
  • Make sure your body is in a straight line
  • Hold yourself in this position for 5-10 seconds while breathing normally
  • Let yourself down and relax then repeat
  • Be sure to do each side 3 sets of 5-10 seconds
  • Modified version is performed on knees

Spiderman Pushup

  • Start in a normal push up position
  • Lower yourself down until you are about an inch from the floor
  • Bring your right knee up to your right elbow while keeping your foot off the floor
  • Push up while returning your leg to the start position
  • Alternate sides and do 8-10 reps per side

These are some of the best love handle workouts and are not your typical ab exercises but really work your core and love handles. You don’t only have to be doing the right exercise but you have to be eating the right foods.

  1. I so wish I had the motivation to do this. I am not “fat” but I always feel so badly about my image. I just wish I could magically get skinny…

    • There is no such thing as a skinny pill but I think that you could have your extra weight magically disappear if you know what you are doing. I don’t think you have to be doing a whole lot. You just have to be eating the right kinds of foods and getting a bit of regular exercise. But what you are eating is so important to your weight loss goals.       Don’t “WISH” your self skinny, start with baby steps. Start exercising and eating healthy and learn to be comfortable in your own skin. Confidence, good health, and being strong are much more sexy then being “skinny”.

      The toughest weight you will ever lift is your ass off the couch. You are the only one who can motivate yourself. If it is important to you, you will find a way, if it’s not, you will find an excuse.

      Good luck with your journey, I was there two years ago but I made a decision to change it and I fell so good about myself.

    • To those wishing yourself skinny.. Remember: Skinny is a shape.. It doesn’t mean you are IN shape! I am by definition ‘skinny’ but my friends who are heavier than I am ( not necessarily fat – just bigger) are in far better shape than I am even though I wear a smaller dress size. My cardio is horrible – I am pushing myself to run a mini this year and forget about me lifting anything over 10 lbs… I am working to be in shape!

      Being ‘Skinny’ doesn’t fix everything. It comes with its own problems. If you’re mind isn’t in the right place about how you look then no matter how much weight you lose – you will never be happy with how you look.

      I used to be just like you. I cannot TELL you how many times I said those exact words. “I wish I had the motivation…” or “I wish I had the self-discipline to look like that”. Well it finally came down to me asking myself What am I worth? Am I worth the pain and sweat and shortness of breath? Am I worth the early mornings, the long days and the awesome body? I started working out two days ago. I’m not tired yet. Can’t wait to see what my body looks like!

  4. in basic training we did the spiderman workout but we had our hands spaced differently. one was out past our heads and the other was at shoulder height, feet we the same as this spiderman push up. it was extremely hard and i think i did only one successful pushup like that but it made 0530 PT fun, and i actually felt it more than a normal pushup !

  5. all you have to do is commit to the above 3 days a week 15-20 minutes a day. If you can’t find the time or motivation to commit to that.. I’ll do extra on your behalf. Just do it until it burns and then push out 5, 10, 15 more reps. I see people giving up right when it starts to burn. The longer the burn the more melting of fat takes place.

  6. I have done both the mountain climber (brings back fond memories of middle school gym class) and the side plank, and they both work rather well I might add. This is my first time seeing the Spiderman, though. I think I will be giving that one a try as well.

  8. if i do this most days, while eating good foods…How long shall it take to get rid of my handles? I hate them so much :( And i mean so much!! Hope this works

    • I think that if you are eating the right foods along with doing the right exercises that you should start to see results really fast. I know that with myself after understanding what where the right foods for me to be eating and exercising that I got results quickly.     Are these exercises safe to do if you suffer from degenerative disc disease and the slightest wrong move, can make it flare up?

    • I would suggest talking to your doctor before starting any exercise program. I myself suffered from back problems and I don’t have a problem with these exercises because there is no strain on my back when performing them. In fact the side plank is an exercise that was suggested to me by my chiropractor to help strengthen my back. These are not the traditional exercises that people do for abs like crunches and situp which can be hard on the back and neck.
